For those of you from outside of Denver, these are the places we like to go when we have some spare time.
The Botanic Gardens is a lovely place to walk around and enjoy the scenery. With good views of the city and both indoor and outdoor gardens is pleasAnt in all sorts of weather.
A great museum with exhibits on nature and science topics. A particular favorite is the space exhibit which has a lot exhibits on topics that relate to Joe's career. In addition there is an IMAX theater, dinosaurs, and an excellent exhIBIT on Native American life.
World famous Red Rocks amphitheater in the foothills outside Denver is a beautiful place. Especially in late September when the leaves are changing and showing wonderful colors. As Red Rocks is a City of Denver park, admission is free if there is not a concert going on.
Denver has developed an impressive restaurant scene in the last decade. These are a few restaurants that we love. We have many more recommendations if you need something different!
This hipster restaurant makes delectably creative dishes and amazing cocktails. We went here for Valentine's Day two years in a row! Check out their site restaurants Linger and Ophelia's for a great Denver experience. If you miss Root Down proper, they also have a location in DIA.
Upscale tacos in an old warehouse turned into a marketplace. We have brought every member of our respective immediate families here and everyone has loved it. Also good for Sunday brunch! Personal favorite: mushroom quesadilla and arrachero steak taco. Located in The Source marketplace, also check out Acorn Restaurant and The Crooked Stave Sour Beer Brewery in the same building.
This breakfast place specializes in non-traditional eggs benny and creative pancake flavors. With a handful of locations around Denver, this place seems like it would be convenient, however, it's super popular, so be prepared to wait during peak hours. Fortunately, they have free coffee for those who wait!
