Are the ceremony and reception in the same location?
Yes!
What should I wear?
The wedding will be cocktail attire and depending on Colorado weather, partially outside. September in Colorado is usually 70-80s, but cooler in the evening. You may want to bring a light sweater. If weather doesn’t permit, the whole wedding will take place inside the mansion. The ceremony will be on grass, so you may want to take care with your footwear choices.
Can I bring my children?
Children are welcome at the wedding. There is a basement floor where we will set up some games for them and breastfeeding mothers can use the upstairs bedrooms for privacy. We also completely understand if you want to get a sitter for the evening and enjoy some good couples time—it’s totally up to you! Be sure to include your kids on the RSVP so that we can make sure to have kid-appropriate food for them.
Do you have a block of rooms reserved at a hotel?
Because of Air BnB, Denver’s plethora of hotels, and our guests’ variety of needs, we decided not to do a specific wedding hotel. We will be happy to make any recommendations for our out of town guests—just shoot us an email!
Will there be adequate parking?
We sure hope so! There are about 6 spaces directly in front of the Mansion which will likely be taken up by vendors and our guests with special needs, but there are about 25-30 parking spots in the office building lot across the street that you are welcome to park at. There is also some metered and street parking available. Because parking is somewhat limited and there will be a lot of delightful drinks to imbibe in, we would encourage people to carpool or take a Lyft.
What’s the best way to get to Denver?
Fortunately, because Denver is squarely in the middle of the US, there’s a direct flight from virtually every city! You should fly into Denver International Airport and from there, you can take the new train, rental car, a shuttle, or a taxi to your destination. We recommend getting a rental car because Denver isn’t a city with great public transportation and you might want to go to the mountains for a few hours and a car is 100% necessary for that.
What should we call you after you’re married?
HUSBAND AND WIFE! DUH. But also, after they get married, Joe Kaiser and Kimberly Shephard will be named Joe Kaiser and Kimberly Shephard, but married to each other. And being married will be awesome.
Anything else?
Remember, you are at 5280 feet above sea level and that’s EXHAUSTING when you are not used to it. Drink lots of water and remember that your tolerance for alcohol is probably lower than at other elevations. Also, edible portions are not the same as regular candy portions. Important. Also, we have 1000 favorite restaurants and things to see, so just ask!
